COMPANY PROFILE

Radins commenced business in 1898 when Frank Radin set up his business in Launcheston, Tasmania. Having learnt his trade as a sailmaker in Hobart, Frank made sails for all types of sailing craft but his main client was William Holyman who had a fleet of ketches trading between Tasmania and the mainland. In 1922 he moved to Melbourne on the advice of Holyman who had recently moved thier base to Melbourne.

Radins set up business at 548 Flinders Street and quickly expanded into making sails for the numerous yachts sailing in Port Phillip Bay as well as the local fishing sleet around Victorian coastal waters.
In 1945 the business expanded into the fabrication of all types of canvas goods and became a major supplier of annexes, auto tents, car covers and all camping equipment.

In 1974 Arthur Evans purchased the business. Expansion continued and in 1979 the business moved to a larger premises at 322 Bay Street, Port Melbourne. Soon after Graeme Gair joined the company bringing with him the piece goods side of the business from Sunshine Australia.
Extra staff were required to handle the increase in piece goods and Tony Bond was recruited from Brella and Loris Rossit joined the company from Gairs.
In the early 1990's the task of running the business had been given to Tony Bond (Managing Director) and Loris Rossit (Director) with Arthur Evans Chairman of the Board.

It was then decided to sell off the manufacturing division and concentrate totally on the supply of piece goods to the expanding number of fabricators in the canvas industry. Radins soon became a major wholesaler / distributor for Brella, Bradmill and Birkmyre.

With the increasing demand for synthetic products Radins moved into the PVC and Polythene coated fabric distribution for Rheem, Plastene and Nylex.
Radins then moved into imports and are now the national distributors and importers of Vistaweave see through awning fabric, Astra, Dickson and Sunbrella acrylics.

To service this growing market Radins Australia have now moved to larger premises at 7 Conifer Crescent in the Redwood Gardens Estate, Dingley Village, Victoria.
